These 12th Century German pair of leg cuisses with shin guards is from the collection of the Churburg Castle in Vinschgau (South Tyrol, Italy). This piece of armor is dated back to 1360, Milan. The first mention of this castle was in 1259. The castle had several owners and lots of reconstructions. There are about 50 preserved sets of armor belonging to the most remarkable castle’s owners — the Trapp and Match families. There are also the family trees of both owners on the first floor of the castle.
Authentic cuisses with shin guards are created from 1,2 mm tempered steel. This reliable and light material provides a high level of mobility in combat. The armor is equipped with soft leather straps so you can easily adjust the cuisses to your gambeson. The cuisses fit the legs perfectly and don’t slip off in combat.
